Cutting Board Care
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!
step 1:
Hand wash the cutting with soap and water, and then dry completely with a clean towel.
step 2:
After letting air dry for at least 20 minutes, if the cutting board feels dry and looks pale you should re-season it. On the other hand, if the cutting board still feels hydrated from the oil, you’re done at this step! If you’re questioning if it needs to be re-seasoned, go ahead and oil it, you won’t hurt it!
step 3:
Re-seasoning your cutting board after cleaning is as simple as pouring around a tablespoon of mineral oil on the surface and rubbing it around with a rag. Get all surfaces covered, you should have a consistent film. Let this sit for a couple minutes and then wipe off the excess with a clean rag. If it absorbed all the oil, repeat this step until there is a thin layer of oil left to wipe off.
Pro tips:
Once you soak a rag in mineral oil, keep it with your oil for the next use. It is nice to have a rag that is already saturated!
A 4:1 mix of mineral oil and beeswax is great to buff on after re-seasoning, this adds a layer of protection to help keep the mineral oil in.
